Windows 93 lore is a set of characters and stories that took place in online chatrooms such as Trollbox and Discord and online forums such as Bindowzuchan and MySpace.
Despite being called Windows 93 lore, the stories take place in other related websites such as:
Windows 93 was created on 2015/03/06 by Jankenpopp and Zombectro. It's development is estimated to have started somewhere in 2014 when Janeknpopp made Windows 93 v0 in order to persuade Zombectro into working on it with him. When Windows 93 v1 was finished, it had a working file and windows system and many applications, some which were only random GIFs and some of which were game ports to web (Gafa 3D).
In 2017 Windows 93 v2 was released along with Trollbox, one of the very first places where Windows 93 community would form. Early trollbox had no rate limit, no message length limit, no rooms and no home variables. One of the earliest Trollbox bots were HugBot and Tree's Tree (speaking from memory). HugBot was a mostly useless bot that would greet everyone with a message that said
* hugs [nickname] *Tree's Tree was a bot with varius amusing functionalities, the most iconic one being text to image. In it's beginnnings it was a browser-based bot and it used canvas to draw text in cool fonts and styles, then displayed them inside Trollbox from data URL.
